Plume’s Touch

Staging a home for resale is a fine balance of design and merchandising.  Plume’s aim is to add style but not bring too much personality or character into our staging.  Character is great for interior design geared for a particular client; but our staged designs aim to have a broader appeal, as to be merchandised to a neighborhood tastes.   Plume’s style is based on your home’s architecture, the home’s details and the target market of buyers.

Plume showcases Architectural details.  For example if a home has a great staircase, millwork, flooring, open windows, or outdoor entertaining area, our team will find it.  It is our job to point out the marketable details in your home by showcase them in a clean and distinctive manner.  This can be done by simple placement of furniture, or accessories such as a mirror or art; and editing furniture when necessary as well to show floor space or details.  Plume designers take into account presentation and focal points in real estate photography as the potential impressions made during showings.

Plume can tackle many types of styles, but chooses a style that tells a story.  Our team generally starts with a storyboard for a vacant stage and work details in that style.  We want to tell a story using the details of your home, with well designed vignettes.  Vignettes are groupings of accessories and/or furniture that portray a lifestyle.  That story might include details that range from cozy to elegant, or transitional to modern.  Plume then sources items from our inventory or we may shop for a couple new unique pieces of accessories.  Our team shops for rental furniture and takes into account scale, color, and style.

Plume deals with all types of lifestyle stories, with markets ranging from luxury, family upsizing, first time buyer, to the downsizing market.  We also take into account your location and the unique qualities of the surrounding community.  For example, if there was a farmer’s market around the corner, we might do a vignette with a market shopper and bundles of veggies.  Or the home was in a family oriented community, we might include a child’s playroom vignette.

Plume’s mission statement is “to create emotional connections for the buyer”, and our design team uses this guideline every step of the process.
